Works on Paper

After painting in acrylic, water color and oil for the last thirty years, I decided to venture into the unknown territory of printmaking two years ago.
I was delighted by the images produced by the various monotype, mono print, etching, woodblock, and lithographic techniques. I marveled at the amazing textures, whimsical patterns and, especially, the unexpected ink runs that often created original and aesthetically provocative results.
When the print first rolls out onto my table, a dialog unfolds between us. I may draw, paint, add other mixed media, or even print another image on top of it to realize my creative vision.
I don't follow the centuries-old printing tradition strictly. The original print is only the substrate for my finished piece. My process combines drawing, painting and printmaking to create the unique images you see. I hope you share my enthusiasm for this latest artistic journey.
